Shawn began riding at the age of 8 with Lynn Boshart in Middletown, KY. She has competed in three-day eventing through intermediate/CCI** and dressage through Second Level. Among her greater accomplishments are earning an HA rating and graduating from Long Run Pony Club in Louisville KY, a first place finish at Bromont CIC** (2007),  and a second place team finish at NAJYRC 2007. Shawn has trained extensively with Susan Harris Perellis, Dorothy Crowell, Denny Emerson, and Reese Koffler-Stanfield and has participated in clinics with George Morris, Stephen Bradley, Lucinda Green, Ralph Hill, and Lynn Coates-Holmes.

After taking a break to start a family, Shawn has started competing again and is currently teaching and accepting new clients at her farm in Simpsonville, KY.  Shawn enjoys teaching flatwork and jumping to students of all ages and experience.
